The methodological approach of Decathlon Consulting lies in the research and upgrading of models and tools, and in the exchange of professional experiences within a valuable International and National network. These are the fundamental
requirements for the quality and originality of our solutions and results.
Together with the Occupational Research Centre, directed by M. J. Kirton, we have a long scientific relationship, that has been developed and strengthened throughout the years that followed the the Italian translation and validation of the KAI (Kirton Adaption-Innovation Inventory).
The cooperation concerns specific aspects of the Adaptors-Innovators Theory and its applications to the field of cognitive styles (creative problem solving), and the management of diversity and change. The following are our current research:
- In addition to the original work that led to the Italian standardisation of the KAI, Decathlon provides the upgrading of the "norms for the management", both in general and for specific sectors.
- "The characteristics of Adaptors and Innovators; the cognitive style and the level of competency" are differentiated in a study that summarizes years of research.
- "The cognitive and leadership styles of Adaptors and Innovators"; research aimed at clarifying the important implications of cognitive styles in leading groups (teamleadership; problem solving leader).
Together with the Creative Problem Solving Group-Buffalo, directed by S. Isaksenn, there is another ongoing scientific
collaboration, that has been crowned by the Italian translation and validation of the SOQ (Situational Outlook Questionnare).
The following are our current research:
- "Creative Climate and Cognitive Styles". The research hypothesis is that Adaptors and Innovators have different perceptions of Creative Climate (measured by the SOQ), and that their cognitive style impinges upon their leadership style.
- "Creative Climate and Teamleadership".
The research is aimed at developing a new concept of the "emotional resonance" (measured by the SOQ), between the leaders and their groups. The survey stems from the analysis of concrete cases where consultancy has been focused on the tuning between the leader and the group, to enhance both their relationships and effectiveness.
- "Can Creative Facilitation go wrong?" The
research investigates how cultural aspects hinder the use of brainstorming in specific organizational contexts. The research, stemming from direct facilitation experiences, singles
out how some technical devices might help in managing "difficult" creative sessions.
Together with Mario Zanetti Association, Decathlon is researching the development of the Medical Directors' role within a Hospital, by identifying guide lines for a future model stemming from the perceptions and experiences of the organizational members. A future convention will be planned to present and discuss our results. |
